Will I lose control?No, hypnosis as an experience is entirely controlled by the person experiencing it. You can choose to respond or not respond to the suggestions that I will give and you can also choose to end the the experience at any point.

Will I reveal some terrible truth about myself?No, hypnosis doesn't allow you to access hidden areas of your mind or personality and you will always be in control of what you say and do. However, it may allow you to view things that you are already aware of with a new perspective.

Is it real?Yes, hypnosis as a cognitive skill is a very real thing that has had a large amount of research dedicated to it.

Does it work?Yes, hypnotherapy by itself has been proven to work for certain problems. The CBH approach that I use has been proven to make CBT more effective. However, no therapy is effective for every individual. As such, we will discuss in the initial consultation whether hypnotherapy may be suitable for you.

Will I be aware of what's happening in hypnosis?Yes, you will be aware of everything that is happening and can stop the process at any point.

Will I do anything embarassing?No, hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis are very different things. Using hypnosis in this setting you may experience occasional body twitches or other minor phenomena, but you won't be doing anything outlandish or embarrassing.

Is therapy effective?Yes, psychotherapy has been proven to be effective through numerous studies. However, its effectiveness can vary from person to person. It's important to find the right approach and therapist for you. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss whether my approach might be a good fit for you.

How long does therapy take?The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual and the issue at hand. On average, it can take between 4 to 14 sessions, but this can differ from person to person.

Is it confidential?Yes, everything said in our therapy sessions is confidential. At the beginning I will ask for your consent to discuss your issues in my own supervision, but any identifying information will not be disclosed. Otherwise, there are few exceptions under law that would require me to disclose information. Such as if demanded by a court order, but these exceptions will be discussed within our first session or you can ask during our initial consultation.

How does therapy feel?Well, it's different for everyone. For some it can be intensely emotional and others it is more subtle. It's a safe and confidential space to explore yourself and the issues you're struggling with.

Does having therapy make me weak?No, in fact most of the clients I see have displayed amazing strength. Both in reaching out for help and with having coped with their problem for as long as they have.

Is it right for me?Only you will truly know that, but if you want to discuss whether it is right for you I am more than happy to have a no strings attached chat about it. Just contact me for an initial consultation.

What is a session like?It can vary depending on the issue. For most issues the first session or so are likely to involve me asking you questions so that I can better understand you and how the problem works. After that it can involve learning practical skills, setting goals, planning how to deal with situations, or learning more about how these issues work.

What if I'm late?If you're late to a session we can still go ahead, unfortunately we will not be able to do the usual length of session as this would impact on other clients' appointments.

How long are sessions?Sessions last one hour.

What is the cancellation policy?If you need to cancel a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made within this time frame will incur the session fee. I understand that life can be unpredictable, so please communicate any changes as soon as possible.

What is the cost of a therapy session?Each therapy session costs £70.

How are therapy sessions conducted?Therapy sessions are conducted online via Google Meet or WhatsApp. If there are any connection issues, we will try to reconnect or switch to a phone call. If the issues persist, the session will be rescheduled.
