Additional Areas of Support

At Volition Therapy, I primarily help clients with stress and insomnia. But Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is a flexible approach that can also be applied to many other challenges.

This page highlights some of the additional areas I support clients with. If you’re unsure whether your situation is a good fit, feel free to get in touch. I’ll be happy to discuss it with you.

:::::

Phobias

Phobias are strong, sometimes overwhelming fears of certain objects or situations like flying, spiders, or needles. Even when people know their fear is out of proportion, it can still feel difficult to control.

In therapy, we work on both the thoughts and physical reactions that maintain the phobia, helping you approach triggers with greater calm and confidence.

Anxiety

Anxiety can show up as constant worrying, restlessness, or feeling tense and on edge. Often, worrying about anxiety itself can make the cycle worse.

CBH may help by:

  • Identifying the thought patterns that fuel worry

  • Practising calming and relaxation techniques

  • Building strategies to respond differently to anxious situations

Social Anxiety

Social anxiety is a fear of being judged or negatively evaluated in social or performance situations, from casual conversations to workplace meetings. Therapy can provide a safe space to explore these fears, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and practise confidence-building tools.

:::::

Confidence & Self-Esteem

Low confidence or self-esteem can affect relationships, career opportunities, and how comfortable you feel in everyday life.

In therapy, we explore the beliefs that shape self-worth and work on building a stronger, healthier relationship with yourself. Many clients find this helps them feel more resilient and authentic.

:::::

Performance Anxiety

Performance anxiety can appear in many settings — whether you’re preparing for a presentation, sitting an exam, attending an interview, or competing in sport.

CBH combines practical preparation strategies with relaxation techniques so you can approach these situations with more focus, calm, and confidence.

:::::

Breaking Unwanted Habits

Habits like nail biting, hairpulling, or repetitive snacking can feel hard to break even with determination.

CBH helps by identifying triggers, interrupting old patterns, and strengthening new, healthier behaviours. Many clients use therapy as a way to regain a sense of control over habits that no longer serve them.

:::::

Anger & Irritability

While anger is a normal emotion, frequent or intense outbursts can feel difficult to manage and may affect relationships and wellbeing. Sometimes anger is linked to underlying stress or frustration.

Therapy provides strategies to recognise early warning signs, regulate emotional responses, and express feelings more constructively.

How I Work

All sessions are personalised and draw on Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH), a blend of CBT-style strategies and evidence-based relaxation techniques. You can read more about Working With Me and the methods I use.
